Cars in Germany's City Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Authorities stated they were alerted by a man who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.

Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Officers then found multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say initial examinations show the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for details.

A high-ranking political figure said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
